Todd and his wife Amy own a business assembling printed circuit boards; they had a Business Owners Policy (BOP) but it didnât have the products & completed ops coverage that it usually does. Unbeknownst to Todd he and his company were exposed to a product liability claim. These boards are going in a wide variety of applications from aerospace to medical devices; it could have been disastrous. We quickly found them an insurance company that would include product liability coverage. Itâs easy to overlook, the devil is in the details.Â
As a volunteer fire fighter, I once got a page for a structure fire and itâs just up the road from me, I have to go a couple of miles in the other direction to fetch the fire engine, but Iâm the first on scene. Thankfully there are no flames showing, I talk to my neighbors and they figure out that it was their electric blanket that was smoking, they promptly unplugged it, problem solved. If the house did go up in flames, it could be the manufacturer of the blanket would be held responsible. More than likely it was made overseas and the manufacturer would be hard to find. Â
